Woods and Workmanship
The solid elements of the Heritage J.S. collection (such as frames and mouldings) are made
from red alder (Alnus rubra), one of the most important woods from deciduous trees from
the West Coast of North America and the only American type of alder used for utilizable
timber on a commercial scale. Legs and drawer frames are in beech.
Fronts, side sections, visible back walls, and panels are veneered with variegated cherry
(planked). The veneer strips are assembled in a “variegated” pattern in the veneer
formation. In so doing, the handcrafted production method and the solid character are
especially emphasised.
The designer of Heritage J.S. collection has placed particular value upon the tension that
is provided by the change in the direction of the veneer between horizontal and vertical.
Bodies and cornice and base elements have a horizontal veneer, as do the incorporated
drawers. The fronts of the doors and drawers in a wave form are veneered vertically. The
exceptions are the collector‘s china cabinet Mod. 7694 and the bookcase Mod. 8691 – in
these cases, the lateral surfaces of the bodies are veneered vertically.
The interplay between the smooth, cubic use of forms with the elements, the simplicity of
their details, the column bases and capitals that have been kept in the classic forms, and
the lavish wave form of the wooden doors and drawers of some of the select furniture
parts all provide the unmistakable tone of the Collection Heritage J.S.
The dovetail of the drawers underscore the high-quality, handcrafted finish of every
individual piece of furniture. For the drawers, we use metal drawer guides. These increase
the ease of use, enable a light, quiet opening, and control the closing process through
soft-close.
Decorative Fittings
We attach great importance to the careful coordination of decorative fittings. In order to
emphasise the unmistakable tone of the Heritage J.S. collection, we have designed special
decorative fittings. They can be delivered either in glossy chrome (M3), frosted lacquer
(M4) or gilded (M13).
Shelving
Wood and glass shelving are adjustable in height or removable (see the description of
details). Wooden shelves in bookcases have a thickness of 25 mm (0.984 inch), all other
wooden shelves are 17 mm (0.669 inch) thick. Glass shelves have a thickness of 8 mm
(0.315 inch). The bottom supports may be used in the positions provided.
Lighting
All china cabinets of the Heritage J.S. collection have interior lighting. The lighting system
is CE marked and complies with the EU directives (EN60598) which regulate the use of
electric materials destined to the assemblage of furniture. All transformers are provided
with a thermal protection which guarantees – in case of overheating – that the lights will
be turned off automatically.

Holz und Verarbeitung
Die Massivteile der Collection Heritage J.S. (Rahmen und Profilleisten) sind aus Red Alder/
Rot-Erle (Alnus rubra) gefertigt, einem der wichtigsten Laubhölzer der nordamerikanischen
Westküste und einzige amerikanische Erlenart mit hohen Nutzholzdimensionen. Füße und
Schubladenzargen sind aus Buche. Fronten, Seitenteile, sichtbare Rückwände und Platten
sind in Kirschbaumholz bunt furniert (beplankt). Die Furnierstreifen werden „bunt“ im
Furnierbild zusammengesetzt. Die handwerkliche Herstellungsweise und der massive
Charakter werden dadurch besonders hervorgehoben.
Der Designer der Collection Heritage J.S. legt besonderen Wert auf die Spannung,
die durch den Wechsel der Furnierrichtungen zwischen horizontalen und vertikalen
Elementen vermittelt wird. Korpusse, Kranz- und Sockelelemente haben eine horizontale
Furnierrichtung, ebenso die darin eingearbeiteten Schubladen. Die Fronten der Türen und
Schubladen in Wellenform sind vertikal furniert. Ausnahmen sind die Sammlervitrine Mod.
7694 und das Bücherregal Mod. 8691; hier werden die Seitenflächen der Korpusse vertikal
furniert geliefert.
Das Wechselspiel zwischen der glatten, kubischen Formensprache der Elemente, der
Schlichtheit ihrer Details, den in klassischen Formen gehaltenen Säulenbasen und
Kapitellen sowie die aufwändige Wellenform der hölzernen Türen und Schubladen einiger
ausgewählter Möbelteile vermitteln die unverwechselbare Note der Collection Heritage J.S.
Die Zinkenverbindung der Schubladen unterstreicht die hochwertige handwerkliche
Verarbeitung jedes einzelnen Möbelstückes. Für die Schubladen verwenden wir
Schubladenführungen in Metall: Sie erhöhen den Bedienkomfort, ermöglichen einen
leichten, ruhigen Lauf und regeln durch ihren Selbsteinzug (soft-close) das geräuschlose
Schließen der Schubladen.
Zierbeschläge
Großen Wert legen wir auf die sorgfältige Abstimmung der Zierbeschläge. Um die
unverwechselbare Note der Collection Heritage J.S. zu betonen, haben wir spezielle
Zierbeschläge entworfen. Es kann zwischen glänzend verchromt (M3), satiniert lackiert
(M4) und vergoldet (M13) gewählt werden.
Einlegeböden
Holz- und Glaseinlegeböden sind höhenverstellbar bzw. abnehmbar (siehe
Detailbeschreibung). Holzeinlegeböden für Regale haben eine Stärke von 25 mm, alle
anderen Holzeinlegeböden sind 17 mm stark. Glaseinlegeböden sind 8 mm dick. Die
Bodenträger können in den vorgegebenen Positionen eingesetzt werden.
Beleuchtung
Alle Vitrinen der Collection Heritage J.S. haben Innenbeleuchtung. Das Beleuchtungssystem
ist CE gekennzeichnet und entspricht der EU-Verordnung (EN60598), die den Gebrauch
der Elektromaterialien regelt, welche für die Montage der Möbel bestimmt sind. Die
Transformatoren sind mit einer thermischen Sicherung ausgestattet, die bei Überhitzung
die Leuchten automatisch abschalten.
